Solar Rammed Earth Home

Saltspring Solar house
Saltspring Island, BC

Viridian Energy Coop completed this 8.4kW solar grid-tie installation on this beautiful rammed earth home on Saltspring Island in 2016. Combined with the geo-exchange heating system, rammed earth walls, and timber structure this makes for an energy efficient, natural west coast home, powered by local rooftop power. Solar was installed on South, West and East roof surfaces to maximize energy production.

Non-penetrating roof clamps were used to securing the solar hardware on the roof ensuring the metal roof waterproofness was not compromised.
